Anglers from all across the country eagerly await the new products every year at ICAST. It’s kind of like waiting for Christmas, but it’s during the hottest time of the year. I personally watch for posts on social media and search YouTube frequently during ICAST just to get a peek at all the new products. The pain in waiting is just horrible for some of us.

In years past, only members of industry, the media, professional anglers, and social media anglers had access to all the new products. Since the general public is not allowed into the show, we are dependent upon someone else to bring us the latest and greatest of the fishing world.

Starting in 2019, EVERYONE will have virtual access to all the newest gear, even before the attendee’s get access to the show. The new product showcase is on day 1, Tuesday, July 9^th and the showroom floor opens up at 5 p.m. eastern time. However, all of us will have an advanced virtual look at the new ICAST 2019 Digital Showcase, sponsored by Fishing Tackle Retailer/Decode (FTR).

FTR is sponsoring new ICAST 2019 apps for Android and iPhone, or at icastfishing.org! The apps and website will give you and every other angler from across the country early access to the New Product Digital Showcase. The best part, you will have access to the products, pictures, details, and link at 2 p.m. on Tuesday. That is a full 3 hours to view the products, even before the attendees get to view those products. Now you won’t have to wait for someone to post something on Instagram or a painful YouTube video.

The groundbreaking 13 Fishing release of a new soft plastic lure line is sure to draw some attention at the 2019 ICAST show in July. 13 Fishing has truly designed a unique line of technical soft plastics that is sure to be a hit across the bass fishing world. The designs are a first of their kind and the action will draw some of the biggest strikes from bass from coast to coast. The names are also truly unique and I’m sure there is a story behind each one of them. Coming in an assortment of colors, I would put money on the new 13 Fishing soft plastic line being one of the biggest hits at ICAST 2019.

The Molix Supernato Frog is going to be the hottest frog for 2019 and it packs some amazing features. This frog is a combination of your everyday frog with a new set of legs that have a unique design that creates a commotion that bass has yet to see on the water. The action of these legs is excellent either fast or on a slow retrieve.

Zoom Bait Company announces the release of the new “Beatdown” soft plastic, a stubby finesse bait that will take Ned Rigging to new levels of effectiveness.

“This is a technique where the key is to do less and don’t overthink it,” said professional angler Gerald Swindle, a two-time Bassmaster Angler of the Year. “If you want to experience fast action and lots of bites, you need to let it do its thing on light line, usually 6- or 8-pound test.”

Swindle worked closely with Zoom’s designers to make sure the Beatdown combined some of the best of the competition’s design features with additional characteristics that make it user-friendly and more effective.

“It’s the perfect size,” he said. “It’s durable, but it’s also still very soft, which means that it’s not as aggravating to put onto the jighead as some of the others. It’s easier to rig, and they’ve got the Zoom colors, which are spot on.” He typically fishes it on a 1/8^th or 1/16^th ounce aspirin-head jig, but said the Beatdown will pair nicely with a wide variety of heads.

As waters become increasingly pressured by advanced anglers, fish naturally get wary, even on venues that were formerly power-fishing havens. As evidenced by its contribution to multiple tour level wins in recent years, Ned Rigging is not just for beginners. It catches fish from coast to coast, anywhere that bass swim, in a wide range of depths. It’s not too often when a company and its owners come together and really impress me with their dedication and vision to produce a new product. Let’s face it, it’s getting really hard to come up with a new idea or improve an already existing product. This is a product that is well built and thought out and sure to be a sought-out product by anglers of all types. I recently found this product while attending the 2019 Bassmaster Classic in Knoxville TN

CATCH COMMANDER

The Catch Commander personal culling scale is just that product. You now have all the information that you need in the palm of your hands to make a quick decision on what fish to cull during a tournament. Time is critical to any angler and this scale takes so much of the guesswork out of culling that critical 5 fish limit. This scale also has a rugged build that’s waterproof. Several handle options available to anglers, making it versatile for those fishing from a boat, kayak, or shore to quickly weigh their catch and capture a great photo with their prized catch.

KEY FEATURES

The first set of features that caught my eye when I saw this unit was the large display and handle options. We all want to be able to catch a trophy fish and capture the weight in the same picture and show off the weight to our family, friends, and family.  The Catch Commander has a great removable handle for some of those really big fish as well. The no puncture fish grip will safely hold a fish for a quick measure and release. Again, it’s durable and waterproof, I’m still looking for another scale that can match this.

I watched first hand at the classic, the culling feature. It was 100% seamless in weighing a fish, and when it was time to cull a fish that you have caught, the process was seamless. This scale allows an angler to pre-set the “CULL” number for the event and display the weight of each fish in the live well (Up to 10 fish Cull Limit with 5 fish weights always displayed) Keeping a real-time tally of your fish weights, including the lightest fish that needs culling. The important part is making sure you use the appropriately marked cull tag.  You can also adjust the cull number for the tournament from 1-10. This is really beneficial for those fishing in the southern U.S. when tournaments sometimes move to a 3 fish limit during the hot summer months.

THE CATCH COMMANDER’S BIGGEST FEATURE!!!

Ok, when I saw this feature of the scale I was immediately impressed and quickly thought of a ton of new ways to use the Catch Commander scale. Major League Fishing has obviously dominated the professional fishing news this year with its new format.
